  • I just purchased the rechargeable hearing aids for my 98 year old mother. When I put them in the base to first charge them, they lit up BLUE. However, the instructions say they should be green or red. What does this mean?

Thank you for shopping with us. We would like to inform you that you receive the upgraded version of rechargeable hearing aid. American Medical Association (AMA) requires that Red Light should only be used for Emergency, that's why we changed the Red Light indicator to Blue Light. Your new rechargeable hearing aid has a Blue Light indicator ON during charging. And a Green Light when fully charged and power ON.

  • After being continuously bright green, now one charger is green and the other is red. The hearing aid itself is not lit up blue either. What does this mean?

If the LED indicator on your charger becomes RED instead of green light, it means that your charger isn't properly working; the charging base cannot support the charging of both hearing aids at the same time or possibly caused by local/unstable electricity. In this case, we suggest that you try plugging the charging base to different power outlet. However, if it's still the same issue, please call our customer support for further assistance.

  • When the amplifier is in the ear is has a sound like air is blowing

Whistling noise usually happens due to ear domes not properly fitted in ear canal. If the domes isn't properly fitted in your ear canal, it can cause sounds and air to leak out and make those uncomfortable noises. Here are some tips to eliminate whistling/feedback: 1. Take out the dome and re-insert it in your ear. The whistling noise should stop once the device is fitted correctly inside your ear. 2. Changing the dome size (preferably closed-tip) of your hearing aid might also help; 3.Whistling can also be caused by a buildup of wax on the ear tube. (clean/replace ear tube) Please contact our customer support for further assistance with troubleshooting.

  • How do I take care of my hearing aid?

You can maintain your hearing aids functionality for several years and reduce any possible issues with daily use by carefully handling your hearing aids. Just like any devices, hearing aids have a strong design but can’t endure improper treatment or care.

Here are some useful tips in maintaining your hearing aids:

    • Keep it clean
Before touching your hearing aids always make sure that your hands are dry and clean. There is a chance that the very small microphone input will become blocked by dirt if mishandled.
    • Try not to drop it
Any impacts on hard surfaces may damage the hearing aid. This may happen upon changing batteries or when you’re cleaning it. Take extra caution when putting on or removing your hearing aids.
    • Protect from high temperatures
Any type of heat is not good for your hearing aid. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight (in a parked car or at home) and do not place it near heaters.
    • Keep away from moisture
Condensation and moisture can cause damage to your hearing aid. You should avoid using it while bathing, showering, swimming, nor leave it in the bathroom. Also, clean your ears from time to time before using the hearing aids. If you suspect possible moist buildup, we advise that you take out the battery from the compartment before you sleep and leave the compartment open. You can also use a dehumidifier or special drying systems that you can avail from your hearing specialists.
    • Keep out of children and pets reach
Keep the devices away from children and pets. Aside from the possible danger of losing parts and damaging the hearing aids, hearing aids that are left switched on emits high-pitched sounds when lying around which irritate dogs. Sometimes, it ends up with the pet dogs eating the hearing aids.
    • Don't apply cosmetics while wearing it
Same with dirt, the small particles from make-up powder or hair spray may block the microphone input and jam the volume controls. Avoid using the hearing aids or remove them before any cosmetics or body care product application.
    • Cleaning agents
Clean the hearing aids gently with a dry, soft towel, or the cleaning tools included in your kit. Solvents, alcohol, or other cleaning products may cause damage to the device.
    • Proper ear hygiene
With or without hearing aids, always pay attention to your ear hygien...

  • Proper care and cleaning of behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids

Clean the removed earpieces daily with the use of a soft, damp cloth or the cleaning tools provided by EarCentric.

Carefully inspect the earpiece opening while cleaning. There shouldn't be any block because the sound coming in and out of the hearing aid will be distorted or even completely unheard. Thoroughly clean the earpiece at least once in a week.

    Seek professional care if:
    • You experience any pain or discomfort despite of correct earpiece placement
    • Earwax is irremovable from the earpiece opening
    • The earpiece tube is brittle and discolored
    • The hearing aid begins to whistle and the volume can no longer be adjusted
    Important for Behind-the-Ear hearing aids

Before cleaning the hearing aid, make sure to detach the earpieces from the body. The hearing aid should never get wet! Make sure that the earpieces are dry when reattaching them to the hearing aids. The best way to dry the air from within the tubes is with the use of an air puffer (never blow the air through the ear tubes from your mouth.)

  • Proper care and cleaning of completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aids

Your hearing aid vendor will provide detailed instructions on how you can clean and maintain your hearing aids and can give you recommendations to the EarCentric cleaning kits and accessories.

Sensitive electronic parts can be damaged by solvents and water. After removing the hearing aids, wipe them off with a dry, soft cloth. (In case your hearing aids gets into contact with solvents or water, wipe them off immediately with a dry, soft cloth.

Check your hearing aids and ear pieces for any moisture or wax buildup on a daily basis and clean as needed. Use a cleaning brush provided. Cleanse the hearing aids starting from top to bottom to avoid having earwax and other small particles from getting in the hearing aids.

In case the volume decreases, there may be a block in the earwax filter. Either change the earwax filter or consult with your hearing aid vendor.

    Important for Completely-in-Canal hearing aids

Since the electronic parts are built-in the earpiece (shell), the hearing aids are more prone to earwax damage, dirt, and moisture.
